At last, another sale.

As you no doubt have noticed, it’s been a while since I’ve made any progress. As with any other venture, life has a way of getting in the way, and soon, all is forgotten but the daily grind, and the endless list of things to get done. Plus having to take a loss on my last transaction left me less motivated than before. But last week a friend of mine sent me an email about this site, and said she planned to give the game a try. There could be no finer kick in the pants than that, eh?

So I made another trip to Urban Ore, my favorite local store, specializing in urban salvage. The place is like a giant, acre-sized combination of the Salvation Army and Home Depot. Along with toilet seats, old doorknobs, and other assorted weirdness, they have a huge selection of books at garage-sale prices. I scored myself a nice copy of George R. R. Martin’s A Clash of Kings (And as an aside, if you have not yet read this series, you absolutely must.) Price: $1.00. I put it up on Half.com, and a couple of days later it sold netting me a princely $3.33 in profits!

Adding that to my $2.71 stake, I am now up to $6.04. Back at step 5, and scratching at the door of Step 6. Exciting!

Never forget Rule 7. It’s the most important of the rules by far. You can break all the others and still succeed if you stick to Rule 7. In the sage words of Winston Churchill, “Never never never give up.”

    Hi Sean,

I was beginning to think you had given up–I’m glad you didn’t! I am anxious to see you reach the million-dollar goal!

Thanks! There’s never enough time for everything you want to do, as I’m sure you know. But I’m sticking with it. My stubborn streak should serve me well for once, instead of getting me into trouble ;)
